A shower pipe heat exchanger is a copper heat exchanger that extracts residual heat from shower water and transfers it to cold supply water. Because the tap water has already been preheated, the central heating boiler needs to supply less energy to take a hot shower. The technology is a perfect addition to a heat pump installation. The heat generator needs to tap less hot water from the storage tank/boiler. The result is that you can make do with a smaller boiler or you can shower longer.
Shower Pipe WTW VX 2100
We have three vertical heat exchangers, including this Shower Pipe WTW VX 2100. This shower pipe is 210cm long and can be placed vertically under the bathroom.
- 10 year product warranty
- Highest measured efficiency (65.2% at 9.2l/min)
- Less susceptible to damage and theft (PVC-U outer sheath)
- Maintenance-free & self-cleaning
- Supplied as standard with connection set and Turbo rotator
- 15-20 seconds warm-up time
- Every tube is extensively tested
- Copper heat exchanger with double separation (in accordance with NEN1717)
- Environmentally friendly: PVC-U outer sheath with reuse guarantee
- The sanitary connections have a very robust ½” female thread with a stainless steel protection ring, so that special brass nipples are no longer required. The usual fittings with conical thread can be mounted directly in the connection. So easy, and the installation remains compact!
- The connections on the drain water side are 50mm smooth; suitable for standard adhesive or cuff connections.
WHY A SHOWER PIPE HEAT RECOVERY?
We are showering more and more often and for longer. As a result, domestic hot water preparation is responsible for an increasing share of the energy bill. The use of insulation, HR++ glass and low temperature delivery systems is well known, but a lot of energy can still be saved with heat recovery from shower water. A shower pipe heat recovery is a relatively simple and cheap solution.
- Quick payback (30 to 50% energy savings on hot tap water = approximately 100 to 200m³ of gas per year)
- Easy to install
- Relatively cheap solution
- Improvement of energy label
- You can make do with a smaller boiler or you have more tap comfort
- Less CO2 emissions
- Maintenance-free
- Self-cleaning
INSTALLER ADVANTAGE
- More interesting purchasing conditions
- Proven technology (applied over 75,000)

INSTALLATION OF Shower Pipe WTW VX 2100
A shower pipe heat recovery:
- provide you with an EA back-flow protection (controllable check valve with integrated ball valve)
- place vertically
- can be installed in combination with a thermostatic shower mixer tap
- must remain accessible in its entirety
- you are not allowed to isolate
- you do not necessarily have to place it directly under the shower (small carry-over is possible)
- can only be connected to the shower drain
TURBO ROTATOR
We supply the Shower Pipe WTW VX 2100 as standard with an EA combination, connection set and TURBO rotator. This attachment ensures perfect entry of warm shower water and therefore high efficiency. The rotator can be mounted left or right, so that you can easily connect it to the drain pipe from the shower.
MAINTENANCE & CLEANING
- Basically, a shower pipe heat exchanger is maintenance-free and self-cleaning due to the high flow
- In case of additional cleaning, a natural soap-based cleaning agent is preferred

FAQs
Can I connect the bath to the shower heat recovery system?
It is not permitted to connect a bath to a shower pipe heat exchanger. This has to do with the diameter reductions in an appliance pipe, in this case a bathtub.
- The odor trap (I) for a bath has a diameter of ⌀ 4 0mm ;
- The reduced diameter of the wall and floor pipe ( III) is ⌀ 50mm for a bath ;
- The appliance pipe (II) for a bath must be ⌀ 75mm.
It is mandatory that the pipe diameter in the appliance pipe is always increased one step at a time. If you install a shower pipe heat exchanger, it must actually have a diameter of at least ⌀ 75mm, while the shower pipe has a diameter of ⌀ 50mm. So that is too small.
Can I insulate a shower heat recovery unit?
No because of the risks for legionella. Always follow the installation steps in the installation manual.
Do I need to clean a shower pipe heat recovery system?
This is not necessary. Due to the high flow of water, the shower pipe heat exchanger is self-cleaning. Do you still want to clean extra? This can be done by rinsing with soap-based cleaning agents, see the manual for this.
Can I hide the heat exchanger?
The shower pipe is considered a sanitary appliance. It must be accessible without demolition work and replaced if necessary. A screwed panel is usually used;
Should the pipe be placed vertically?
You must mount the tube vertically because of the cyclonic effect inside the tube. Mount the shower pipe heat recovery within <1° vertically. Use a spirit level for this.
Can you connect multiple showers to one shower pipe heat exchanger?
This depends on the maximum water flow. Inquire about the possibilities.
Can the shower pipe heat exchanger be placed in a meter cupboard?
Yes, provided the meter cupboard is compartmentalised during installation.
